With homes in California, England, France and Dubai, Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham and his wife, Victoria, employ a staff of about 50 worldwide to look after their properties, but they've begun making layoffs in cost-cutting measures.

"David and Victoria are multi-millionaires," a family friend told the London tabloid Sun, "but that doesn't mean they have to waste money -- and they were hemorrhaging it."

An account told the Beckhams hundreds of thousands of dollars were being wasted each year on excess staff.

The gardener at Beckingham Palace now doubles as their chauffeur in England, while six gardeners at their huge estate in the south of France were let go.
