China relegated to role of women's sparring partner

[DATEBOOK] The U.S. women's national team will face China twice in early October before heading to Mexico for CONCACAF Qualifying for the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany.
 
The matches will take place Oct. 2 at the Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium, home to WPS's Atlanta Beat, and Oct. 6 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa., home to the MLS expansion Philadelphia Union.

The USA will participates in the 2010 CONCACAF qualifying tournament Oct. 28-Nov. 8 in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

China failed to qualify for the Women's World Cup for the first time, losing to Japan, 2-0, in the third-place game in Asian qualifying.
