[UNC WILMINGTON] UNC Wilmington, the defending CAA champion, got good news when Devan Carroll, the 2008 CAA Player of the Year, was reinstated to the Seahawks program.

Carroll, who will be a senior, missed the 2009 season after being suspended for undisclosed violations of team policies prior to the opening of the season.

"I want to thank the university and the athletic department for giving me this opportunity to continue towards completing my degree and return to the soccer program," said Carroll. "During my time away from UNCW, I learned a lot about myself and the importance of a college education. I'm eager to get started."

As a junior in 2008, Carroll helped the Seahawks to their first-ever Colonial Athletic Association regular season title and was named CAA Player-of-the-Year. He notched 20 points on nine goals and a pair of assists.

"We're excited to have Devan back in both the program and university," said Coach Aidan Heaney. "He's gone through the process of getting back into school and I believe he's ready to begin the next chapter of his life."

UNCW is ranked No. 24 in the Soccer Preseason Men's Top 25.

Four Seahawk players -- Etienne Boulanger, Daniel Roberts, Indy Smith and Brock Duckworth -- were selected to the league's preseason all-conference team.
