[TULSA MEN] Tulsa, fourth in the current Soccer America Top 25 men’s rankings, improved to 2-0-0 with a 4-1 win over Lipscomb at the SMU Invitational onMonday.

The Golden Hurricane is one of the most experienced teams in the country with seven starters back from last year’s team that reached the quarterfinals of the 2009 NCAA Tournament, but its first two goals were scored by first-year players James Gulley, a freshman from Mississippi, and Adrian Klammer,an Austrian JC transfer.

Preseason All-American Ashley McInnes added the third goal. Tulsa’s other Preseason All-American, Austin Neil, had all three goals in the 3-1 win over Seattle on Saturday.

“Our focus isn’t what others think of us,” Tulsa coach Tom McIntosh said of the latest rankings, “but how we evaluate our performance. It was great to score seven goals on the weekend and to create the amount of chanceswe did, but there is room for improvement. It is early in the season so our focus is just on getting better.”

SMU also won both games at its tournament with a 3-1 win over Lipscomb and3-0 victory over Seattle.
