The decision of MLS's disciplinary committee to fine New York Red Bulls star Thierry Henry $2,000 but not suspend him for kicking a dead ball that injured FC Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman did not sit well with Hartman's agent, Ron Waxman.
"The members of the disciplinary committee should be embarrassed and ashamed," Waxman told Steven Goff of the Washington Post's Soccer Insider. "It's either no punishment or there must be a suspension. I'm sorry to discover that they've established a double standard for the treatment of their marquee players as opposed to the treatment of their rank and file."
Henry escaped a suspension that will allow him to play in Friday's marquee match between the Red Bulls and Los Angeles Galaxy. Hartman is expected to be sidelined 2-3 weeks with a knee injury suffered when he touched the ball just as Henry struck it.
