[OHIO STATE-AKRON] Ohio State became the latest school to set a men's soccer attendance record. The 7,255 fans at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium -- a record Ohio record -- were treated to a thriller as the No. 23 Buckeyes scored with two seconds in regulation to tie No. 1 Akron, 2-2.

"You could look up from the bench and obviously see that most of the stands were filled, but I had no idea how many it was," Ohio State coach John Bluem said of the record crowd. "Salute to the great fans from Akron who came out for the game tonight and a super thank you to our fans and local supporters of soccer who hopefully enjoyed what they saw and come back."

David Tiemstra's tying goal came off a pass from Matt Gold a few yards out from the goal. Goalie Matt Lampson had cleared the ball from the Buckeyes' defensive third and found Gold in the Akron area.

Austin McAnena had put the Buckeyes ahead in the 30th minute, ruining the Zips' bid for an NCAA record.

Akron had not allowed a goal since Nov. 15, 2009, a streak of 11 games, tying the NCAA record previously set by Furman (2002) and Virginia (2009), and 1,140 minutes.

The Ohio State lead lasted only six minutes as Akron's Michael Nanchoff scored on a penalty kick.

Jamaican Darren Mattocks scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season for the Zips in the 68th minute to give Akron the lead until Tiemstra's last-second tally.

Ohio State played the last 38 minutes of regulation and overtime with 10 players following Konrad Warzycha's ejection.
