The European Cup medal the late George Best received when Manchester United won the title for the first time in 1968 was sold for 156,000 pounds ($245,000) at an auction.
Best, who died in 2005 at the age of 59, won the medal when United beat Benfica, 4-1. The Bonhams auction house called the amount of the sale "staggering."
The medal was one of 13 awards that fetched a total of 200,000 pounds ($315,000). The money will go to Best's sister, Barbara McNall.
