[MLS] The expansion Portland Timbers made their first trade,  acquiring defender/midfielder Jeremy Hall from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft.

Hall, 22, was drafted by the Red Bulls in the first round (11th overall) in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Maryland and played 37 regular-season games and made 31 starts over his two years with New York.

A quad injury limited his playing time during the Red Bulls' run to the Eastern Conference regular-season title.

“Jeremy is a versatile, young footballer who has a tremendous upside,” Portland technical director Gavin Wilkinson said.
