[AMERICANS ABROAD] Rewarded for his work effort, according to Sochaux coach Francis Gillot, with a place on the bench for Sunday's 1-1 tie with Bordeaux, American Charlie Davies won't be on the bench for Wednesday's game at Monaco, the final game before France's winter break.

Gillot will take Davies on Sochaux's winter training camp in Tunisia though he advised the U.S. international to go on loan to a Second Division team for the second half of the season.

"He prefers to stay where he knows the doctors and he feels good," said Alexandre Lacombe, the Sochaux president. "Psychologically, it is not easy for him. Here he has his girlfriend, his teammates and medical staff who follow him to help him.”

Lacombe added that a move to MLS for the 2011 season wasn't in the works.
