D.C. United rewarded Andy Najar, the 2010 MLS Rookie of the Year, with a new multi-year contract.
The 17-year-old Najar, who scored had five regular-season goals, earned just $60,000 before bonuses under the terms of a long-term deal signed when he graduated from the club's academy program as a homegrown player last spring.
"One of our top priorities this offseason was to agree to a new deal with Andy that would both reward him for his contributions and secure his future with D.C. United," General Manager Dave Kasper said.
