Juan Carlos Osorio, who led Once Caldas to the 2010 Colombian championship, will return to MLS as coach of Chivas USA, reports Scott French, citing multiple sources.
Osorio, a graduate of Southern Connecticut State, worked as a conditioning coach at Manchester City and served as head coach at Millionarios in his native Colombia before breaking in as a head coach in MLS with Chicago in 2007. He then moved to New York, which he led to the MLS Cup 2008 final. But the Red Bulls collapsed the next year and he did not last until the end of the season.
Other candidates were Real Salt Lake assistant coach Robin Fraser and former Chicago head coach Denis Hamlett.
