[MLS] John Rooney, the brother of English star Wayne Rooney, is one of five foreigners outside the college system among 12 players added to the list of players invited to the 2011 adidas MLS Player Combine Jan. 7-11 at Central Broward Regional Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

MLS coaches and scouts will look at more than 70 players on four teams over three days of play.

Other non-collegiate players who have signed include midfielders Paolo Cardozo (Uruguay), Marlon Ganchozo (Ecuador) and Martin Rivas (Argentina) and forward Victor Estupinan (Ecuador).

The coaching staffs will consist of Louisville’s Ken Lolla (AdiZero) with Rick Brownell of the Michigan Wolves, Tulsa’s Tom McIntosh (AdiPure) with Dave Smith of the North Atlantic Soccer Association, Seattle Pacific’s Mark Collings (Jabulani) with Brian Quinn of San Diego SC and Old Dominion’s Alan Dawson (AdiPower) with Brian Doyle of Council Rock Soccer Association and FC Bucks.

Akron all-American Darlington Nagbe will not participate in the Combine but is eligible for selection in the SuperDraft. Can John Rooney really play, or is he being hired for his name value? Who did he play for, and is he going to be a thug like his brother was?

Will SA publish the entire and complete list of the players at the Combine?
