[MLS] Three players -- Matt Eliason (Northwestern), Joao Plata (Liga de Quito) and Steven Beattie (Northern Kentucky) -- have been added to the adidas MLS Player Combine that begins Friday in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. For all the invitees ...

Plata is one of three young players from Liga de Quito attending the Combine and sixth foreign player invited from outside the U.S. college system.

Beattie, who hails from Skerries, Ireland, is the only player from a small college invited to the Combine.

MLS has yet to announce the Combine teams (see below) to which the three players have been assigned.

Thanks for listing the players. One question, though: is the MLS Combine open to most comers? I was under the impression that it is supposed to be held to attract local, i.e. US players? Please clarify.
