ITALY: Squad for friendly against Germany

Italy, which will play the USA in the 2006 World Cup, called up 23 players for the friendly against Germany on Wednesday.

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has since pulled out of the Florence friendly against Germany due to a thigh injury. Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi is expected to start in Gattuso's place.

Also missing are playmaker Francesco Totti and left back Gianluca Zambrotta.

ITALY ROSTER:

Goalkeepers: Buffon (Juventus), Amelia (Livorno) De Sanctis (Udinese). Defenders: Barzagli (Palermo), Cannavaro (Juventus), Grosso (Palermo), Materazzi (Inter Milan), Nesta (AC Milan), Oddo (Lazio), Pasqual (Fiorentina), Zaccardo (Palermo). Midfielders: Barone (Palermo), Camoranesi (Juventus), De Rossi (Roma), Diana (Sampdoria), Perrotta (Roma), Pirlo (AC Milan); Forwards: Del Piero (Juventus), Gilardino (AC Milan), Iaquinta (Udinese), Toni (Fiorentina), Vieri, (Monaco/FRA).
