[AMERICANS ABROAD] American Jonathan Spector, who scored two goals for West Ham in its 4-0 win over Manchester United in the English League Cup, did it again for the Hammers, scoring in their third-round English FA Cup game against Barnsley, a 2-0 win on Saturday.

Clint Dempsey hit the post before going off in the 62nd minute of Fulham's 6-2 win over Peterborough United.

Brad Friedel started in goal for Aston Villa in its 3-1 victory at Sheffield United, while Tim Howard was in goal for Everton in its 6-2 win at Scunthorpe United.

Marcus Hahnemann, the backup at Wolves in recent weeks, started for the EPL club in its 2-2 tie with Doncaster.

The other Americans to start were Zak Whitbread for Norwich City in its 1-0 loss to Leyton Orient and Frank Simek for Carlisle United in its 1-0 loss at Torquay.
