Gyau steals show in Ft. Lauderdale

[MLS] With Sunday an off day at the adidas MLS Player Combine in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., MLS staffs got a chance to watch the the U.S. U-20s at an intrasquad scrimmage and four players -- Perry Kitchen, Zac MacMath, Zarek Valentin and Omar Salgado -- who are all projected to be top 10 picks in Thursday's SuperDraft and not involved in the Combine. The star of the day, though, was Joe Gyau, one of the many under-20 players who are playing abroad.

Kitchen is a potential No. 1 pick, but the star of the scrimmage was Gyau, who set up two goals by Bobby Wood. Gyau and Wood both play in Germany for Hoffenheim and 1860 Munich's U-23 teams, respectively.

In Saturday's Combine play, Uruguayan Paolo Cardozo scored the winning goal to give Team Jabulani a 2-1 win over AdiZero. The other game ended in a 0-0 tie.

John Rooney, the brother of English star Wayne Rooney, played the last half hour for AdiPure for in the 0-0 game.

One of the few attacking players who stood out was Ecuadoran Joao Plata, who scored for AdiZero. Another Ecuadoran, Victor Estupinan, also looked good.
