Edwin F. Hale Sr., owner of the Baltimore Blast indoor team, was cited Friday on charges he carried a loaded .38-caliber handgun in a briefcase as he went through the security at BWI Marshal Airport.
Hale, the chairman and CEO of First Mariner Bancorp and chairman of the Baltimore Convention and Tourism Board, had a permit to carry the gun.
Entering the airport with a gun is not a violation of the law if the person has a permit. It is, however, a crime punishable up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine, to carry a firearm into the screening area.
