[TELEVISION WATCH] How big is MLS's newest rivalry in Canada? The first all-Canada game between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC drew an average of 289,000 viewers on TSN, making its the most-watched MLS game in Canadian television history.

The first game of TSN's six-year deal drew 1.4 million viewers who tuned in at one point or another of the Whitecaps' 4-2 win.

MLS still has a long way to go before it will challenge the NHL, however. Hockey Night In Canada on CBC averages roughly 2 million viewers.
