Still think they are missing someone important to U.S. Soccer - Perry Van Der Beck. First American drafted straight out of high school into the NASL - Tampa Bay Rowdies (1978), 23 caps playing for the U.S. National team trying to qualify for the 1982 and 1986 World Cups, captain of the U.S. Soccer team at the 1980 Olympic Games (boycotted by President Carter), U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year 1985, Dallas Sidekicks, St. Louis Steamers, Wichita Wings (1984-1990), U.S. Soccer Board of Directors (1986-1993), Tampa Bay Mutiny (player, coach), Super Y-League ODP National Camp Technical Director, and now Executive Vice President, Technical Director and Director of Player Development for FC Tampa Bay. He should be elected on the Veterans ballot, without question.
