[MLS] Danny Mwanga picked the perfect time to notch his first goal of the season, scoring late to give the Philadelphia Union a 1-1 tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy in a game the visitors largely dominated. The match drew a PPL Park-record crowd of 19,178.

Landon Donovan had given the Galaxy the lead with a patented goal in the 24th minute, following up on a play that began when he back-heeled the ball to Juan Pablo Angel.

It w as the fifth straight Galaxy goal Donovan scored this season and tied him for fourth place on the all-time MLS scoring list with Real Salt Lake's Jason Kreis (108 goals).

Colombian keeper Faryd Mondragon kept the Union in the game with several spectacular saves until Mwanga, who had seven goals in rookie campaign, scored his first goal of the 2011 season after taking an errant pass by Sean Franklin and rounding Donovan Ricketts to score into the empty net.

MLS ALL-TIME SCORERS

Mwanga needs to start in place of Ruiz, this will get our offense back on track. Le Toux and Mwanga worked well last year and scored a lot of goals for us and we need to get back to this now.

Not saying Ruiz is better than Mwanga, but that goal was gift wrapped up to Mwanga by LA.

I hope Ruiz joins the teams real soon - Le Toux was showing him how it is done last night by playing the right and left forward spots. Le Toux's effort last night was spectacular. Ruiz will be better when he gets fit and can run again.

I'd agree with the above but saw the most gaps on the right midfield with Mapp not having a good game in my opinion. Couple misques, not in the right position most of the time and that really hurt us. I'm not anti-Mapp but yesterday wasn't his night. I was hoping he'd be pulled at the half or at least sub-bed out but didn't happen. Uggh.

JH commented that LeToux was spectacular running the right and left flanks...no doubt he has a high work rate, but efficacy which measures whether the guy is 'fantastic' remains to be seen.
