[EUROPEAN RACES] Lille completed the French double when it won its first league title in 57 years with a 2-2 tie with Paris St. Germain on the next-to-last day of the Ligue 1 season. Blackpool and Birmingham were the unlucky teams to join West Ham United as the teams relegated from the English Premier League. The cost: an estimated $65 million in lost television revenues.

Wigan climbed three places and survived for another season when Colombian Hugo Rodallega scored in the 78th minute to give it a 1-0 win at Stoke.
