[AMERICANS ABROAD] The bid of Freddy Adu's Rizespor to earn promotion to the top flight of Turkish soccer ended on Thursday when it tied Oduspor, 3-3, losing the promotion playoff series, 7-3 on aggregate.

American Charles Kazlauskas' bid to move up to the Eredivisie in the Netherlands faded when Helmond Sport lost, 5-1, at home to Excelsior in the first leg of their promotion/relegation playoff final.

In Sweden, Americans Ryan Miller (Halmstad) and Gale Agbossoumonde (Djurgarden) both started in losing efforts and find themselves in the basement of the Allsvenskan.
