Just like the Brazil and Argentina game, USA offered little challenge or any interesting moments of play. BB's selection of players remains baffling. Where is Jose Francisco Torres?? Torres chose USA over Mexico to represent. A sad story for the Texas-born and raised midfielder. BB and the entire US Soccer coaching crew needs to be replaced by some men that are capable of some original thought.

plain enough to me, the USA players are not playing some of the toughest teams in the world as a matter of routine in their daily lives as pro players thruout the soccer dominant countries. A few international players of the US team are playing overseas facing this competition an getting experience with some of the world's best teams. Unfortuately ,many of the USA players do not have this oppoutunity or experience. The US needs better developement of the youth, right up thru the different leagues to prepare players for the highest level. Too much politics involved in many instances to bring on the most qualified players up the chain....until we take the politics out of soccer , we will continue to be a second rate power in soccer.

the point is simple ... the selection of players comes from a very narrow perspective of what an international class soccer player looks like. when players like Torres are ignored that speaks volumes.

Very disappointing. Not very surprising. Very frustrating watching our national team, with a lot of up and coming talent, being wasted by a bureaucracy that turns out such a lackluster product. From the top down, if a goal is to have a quality national team, the US soccer establishment needs to be dismantled. It's a disgrace to have this establishment churn out as the end product such an incredibly poorly coached national team - particularly when the talent is there to do so much better.

Bobble-Heads United must be in complete denial after last nights fiasco. What set of circumstances would lead to the removal of Sunil and Bob? The two faces of US Soccer were BOTH on display last night. Bob's team was put to the sword by a superior Spanish side. Sunil was on TV at halftime, and with a straight face stated that "The US vote for Sepp Blatter was a vote for REFORM of FIFA". Over and over, the men at the top of US Soccer urinate on us and tell us that i is raining...

Having watched the first half at a local GoalsSoccerCenter in So Calif, together with a smattering of players youth and adult, male-female, all I heard were derisive comments and invective aimed at the US side. Granted the ESPN feed with an Englishman and his gawd-awful speaking tilt, with Harkes, did not make for comfortable watching, and so I left before the third goal was scored but tuned to the car radio Spanish language feed, and was continuously heard derision of the US side, with words such as "que verguenza, el equipo local no tiene nada y no hace nada" (what a shame, the locals don't have much of anything or can't do anything!" And, "es una catedra del como se debe jugar el futbol," (it is a veritable lesson on how to play futbol!) After getting home on time for the second half, I switched from ESPN to the Spanish language broadcast and painfully watched the remainder of the game, however, the announcers were a bit more "gentle" yet chastised the US MNT, and even gave fair warning that if this was the "best" US side, then the first and future Gold Cup games will be an uphill battle. Lastly, indeed Bradley has made a mess of this, continues to insult a now fairly knowledegable and sophisticated national soccer community in this vast land of ours,while Gulati seems to be greasing his slide into a post-US Soccer presidency position within FIFA or even CONCACAF! Oh and BTW, after the televised game, the Spanish language broadcast announced the results of a poll taken indicating that Mexico has a 76% chance of advancing further in the Gold Cup, while the US's was a measly 24%. So after the Saturday debacle, is it any wonder?

It is hard to swallow when someone comes into your house and hammers you in front of your fans but it is even worst when they do it to our red, white and blue. And it should matter even if you hate soccer or love soccer. No body should come into our house and hammer us. But the US team will be fine. They will go back and lick their wounds and go at it once again. Meanwhile the question we must ask ourselves is what do we need to do to become a soccer nation and win a world cup? We don't need an international coach. Why? Because coaching is overrated. Players win championships not coaches. But I will tell you what we need and actually one part of what we need to do is what Spain implemented after they flamed out in 1982 WC. They established futsal in every grade school. I have a little different twist to that. We need to create a NEW SPARTA but first we must do this first. Soccer in the US is considered a hobby. Soccer outside of the US is considered a way of life. Until we have 5 year olds playing futsal everyday in the inner cities of America we will never have magical players that can help the US to be the best in world soccer. Coaching is totally overrated. Players win championships not coaches. We need players and they are not going to come from $250 soccer shoes, beautiful soccer complexes, gimmicks, suburbia soccer environment, or the soccer system that exist in the US. There is GOLD in them mountains. But them mountains are located in the HOODS of America and not the suburbs. Suburbia soccer has it's place. For some it is a form of day care and for others it is country club. If US wants special players they will only come from the Barrios and Ghettos of America. US Soccer is wasting their money and time with Suburia Soccer. The US needs a soccer revolution and that revolution must begin in our inner cities. Until then we will continue to hang in there. I have been preaching this for 36 years. I have been almost all over the world. I know exactly what we need to do and that is to create a NEW SPARTA. Everything else is smoke n mirrors.

Yes. Player development in the USA is way behind the curve. We understand. What we can't understand is a coach that does not pick a team that's based in current form Like in the rest of the world Sasha k and Robbie Rogers ? wtf These guys should not even be on the team Hell Eddie gaven is the best winger on a certain yellow and black team There is a certain left footed winger in Houston who can fill in in a pinch. Not Rogers. We know he can't Jozy altidore can't even go 90 for his club And what kind of message does it send when Juan A makes the team and he doesn't even start Jones and edu played lazy but had zero help on the wings When is the soccer media going to call a spade a spade. Sunil and bob must go. NOW

What a disgusting, embarrassing "performance" by the US team. Bradley has had more than enough time to field a really good team and good tactics, time is over. Don't let the the door hit you on the butt on the way out Bradley.

Ric-- Interesting insight from the Spanish announcers. As an American I felt embarrassed to have invited the world champions to a game in which the hosts do not even field an "A" team or put forth any kind of creditable performance. I am tired of hearing catch phrases like "player development", "player evaluation", and "lessons to learn from". And then more talk about how difficult the games against Caribbean teams will be. Please. US soccer has deteriorated greatly since 2002 and quite frankly has become boring. I am not a coach--just a fan, and I expect to be entertained when I watch a soccer game. I would have derived more enjoyment and sense of satisfaction mowing grass for 2.5 hrs than watching the USMNT.Play the "player development" games against weaker opponents in away games, but show up to win against strong teams, especially in home games.

It looked like a bunch of Rec players trying to play a local select team. Gold cup or not it was pathetic, so poor a performance that even Fran Torres scored. We know where his form is right now. David Silva looked like Maradonna and their water boy if he laced up a pair of boots would have also been dangerous. It was like watching the last preseason NFL game. Sadly it wasn't and was in our nations jersey. Everyone in attendance is due a refund. These announcers and commentators are ridiculous to try to ascert we took anything away from that exhibition.

Cony Konstin, you are absolutely correct about the need for the creation of soccer among the youth so that soccer becomes a part of their daily lives in order to raise the standard of soccer in the US. But you are wrong about not needing a good coach for our national team. A coach is there to mold a team together. He has at his disposal different talents, different styles of plays, different schools of thought, and so on. He has to put them together to make a winning combination. He is there to guide, to plan strategies, to give direction, to motivate, to create a high morale so that each player will give of his best every time! Have you not heard of Guus Hiddink who improved every national team he coached? Even a club team like Chelsea in a short time! Yes, we do need a good coach, and Bob Bradley is not that man! When asked of his strategy before an important game last year he said, "We'll take what the other team gives us". What, no strategy? Perhaps he did not want to reveal the strategy but I doubt if he had one, with the way our team has been playing! By selecting players like Altodore, Kljesten, Rogers, Bornstein, and not selecting Torres, Gomez, Buddle, and others he has shown that he does not have the knack of recognizing true talent that is obvious to the fans. As most people agree Bob Bradley must go, but who will make this happen? How do we make this happen? Anyone?

Get used to it folks, USSF/SUM/MLS have decided that the Team Bradley approach is the way to go, 3 more years and then perhaps Bradley will finally be let go.

David-- You are probably right, but I am too young to just "get used to it." I can not remember the last time the USMNT could fairly consistently find the forwards, much less see the forwards get multiple shots on goal. Soccer has been a great run for me--I enjoyed watching my children grow in the sport and I was thrilled with the heady days of soccer with the likes of Brian McBride. But life is too short for wasted passion;it is time for me to find a different interest to throw myself into. Good luck to you guys--I hope your patience is rewarded. You have more endurance than I do.
