[AMERICANS ABROAD] Brad Rusin, captain of the NASL runaway leader Carolina RailHawks, has been transferred to HB Koge ofthe Danish Superliga.

Rusin, a 6-foot-4-inch defender out of UCLA, spent two-plus seasons with the RailHawks. He appeared in a total of 54 matches, 12 in 2011 during which he wonthree NASL Player of the Year awards.

“Over the last few seasons, Brad developed a lot as a player,” said RailHawks coach MartinRennie. “The potential he showed when he first joined our club is about to come to fruition. He’s going to play in one of the top leagues in Europe, and we’re looking forwardto watching his career progress from afar. I’m excited to see where he’ll go. We wish him all the best and expect him to do quite well.”

Rusin will be oneof six American-born players who will play in Denmark in the coming European season, and one of five who will play in the Superliga.

The RailHawks’ backup goalkeeper, Caleb Patterson, is also on his way to Europe, signing with Atletico CP of Portugal’s second division.
