If English Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore gets his way, there could be goal-line technology in use for league matches as soon as next year.

In a written review of the league season submitted to members of Parliament, Scudamore states that if FIFA approves a method by which goal-line technology can be used, he would push for it to be implemented in time for the 2012-13 season.

“The technology is available, it is the fairness that is important and the Premier League would introduce it tomorrow if it could," wrote Scudamore. "Now FIFA is constructively engaged we are hopeful the 2012-13 season is a realistic aim.”

FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who months ago closed the door on experiments with goal-line technology, has since reversed course. Trials are being conducted by the the International Football Association Board (IFBA), which adminsters the rules of the game, and a report is due in March.
