Cannavaro to lead Cosmos at Scholes testimonial

Recently retired Italian star Fabio Cannavaro, the 2006 World and European Player of the Year, will lead the New York Cosmos against Manchester United for Paul Scholes' testimonial match to be played at Old Trafford on Aug. 5.

Former United stars Gary Neville and Nicky Butt, as well as Sol Campbell, Brad Friedel, Robbie Keane, Brian McBride, Michel Salgado and Patrick Vieira, will also play for the Cosmos.

Eight players from the Cosmos youth programs -- the former Blau Weiss Gottschee and LAFC Development Academy teams -- will also join the team.
