After Landon Donovan watched the Galaxy's exhibition with Manchester City Sunday from the bench, team officials revealed he won't be playing against Manchester United in the All-Star Game Wednesday at Red Bull Arena because of a calf injury.
Donovan played 90 minutes in a midweek match against Columbus won by the Galaxy, 1-0, and played the first half of a friendly against Real Madrid a week ago last Saturday. He is the Galaxy's top scorer with nine goals in 14 games and has matched Eddie Pope's league record of 11 All-Star selections.
Whether Donovan will travel to New York to participate in festivities and promotional events has not been announced. The Galaxy's next match is at home against Vancouver on Saturday.
