Germany clinches berth in finals

[EURO 2012 QUALIFYING] Germany became the first team to join co-hosts Poland and Ukraine at the Euro 2012 finals when it beat Austria, 6-2, to win Group A with its eighth win in eight games.

The Netherlands achieved its biggest win in 39 years when it crushed San Marino, 11-0, and improved to 7-0-0.

Italy also moved to within striking distance with a 1-0 win over the Faroe Islands.

England took control in Group G thanks to a 3-0 win at Bulgaria and Wales' 2-1 victory over Montenegro, its first win in f ive games.

Russia took advantage of the 0-0 tie between Ireland and Slovakia to move into first place in Group thanks to its 1-0 victory over Macedonia.

Greece beat Israel 1-0 in Tel Aviv to move into first in Group F.
