[AROUND THE COUNTRY] Portland, which had not lost as many as five games in a season since 2000, fell to 4-5-1 as the Pilots slumped to a 3-1 defeat at UC Irvine.

The Anteaters improved to 6-2-1 with the win thanks to two goals from Lexi Kopf and CoCo Goodson's insurance goal in the 88th minute, two minutes after Amanda Frisbie's penalty kick for the Pilots, who have not had a losing season since 1983.

-- Massachusetts (5-2-1) extended its winning streak to three as Deanna Colarossi's overtime header lifted the Minutewomen past Brown, 1-0. The Bears (4-2-1) had their chances, though, as Chloe Cross hit the woodwork twice in the first half.

-- Cal State Fullerton won its fourth straight game -- its longest since winning four straight to open the 2008 season -- with a 2-0 victory over San
Diego thanks to goals by Rebecca Wilson and Ann Marie Tangorra.
