[UC RIVERSIDE-UC SANTA BARBARA] UC Riverside upset No. 7 UC Santa Barbara, 3-1, in the Big West opener for both teams thanks to second-half goals by Aaron Long and Richie Osborne before a record crowd of 2,016 fans in Riverside.

The Highlanders, who  had not beaten UCSB in five years, scored on Cesar Diaz Pizarro's header in the 11th minute, but the Gauchos equalized six minutes later when David Opoku, scored his fifth goal of the season.

Long broke the deadlock in the 59th minute when his shot from 25 yards bounced over diving Gauchos keeper Andre Grandt.

Richie Osborne added the UCR insurance goal 10 minutes later.

Alex Racca, who missed the first six with an injury, picked up his first two assists of the season.
