[ACC] Jessica Price's goal in the 105th minute gave Florida State an historic 1-0 victory over North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the ACC Women’s Tournament at Fetzer Field. The loss was Carolina's first ever in the 24-year history of the ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels finished the regular season with an 11-5-1 mark, equaling the most losses in a single season in UNC history. Their three-match losing streak is now the longest ever.
 
Ella Stephan's initial shot that was saved by UNC goalkeeper Anna Sieloff, who tipped the ball off the cross bar. The rebound fell to Price, however, and she put the ball over the line for her fourth goal of the season.

With the win, Florida State becomes the first team in ACC history to have beaten the Tar Heels three times.  Only Notre Dame with five wins and Santa Clara with four wins own more victories over the Tar Heels than the Seminoles do.

“This was a big win for our program,” said FSU coach Mark Krikorian.  “Everyone knows that success in women’s soccer goes through UNC, so to come in here, be on the road and to win in overtime is a credit to our players’ hard work and resilient behavior.

UNC had 18 shots in the game, but only three were on goal.  A Florida State defender cleared a Crystal Dunn shot off the line in the first half and Kelsey Wys made her only two saves of the match in the waning moments of regulation.

Florida State improved to 13-6-0 on the season with the win and will now play Virginia in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.  Duke and Wake Forest will play in the first semifinal game at 5:30 p.m.

Wake Forest was the other team to win on the road, getting a goal and two assists from Rachel Nuzzolese and defeating fourth-seeded Boston College, 3-2.

Top-seed Duke beat Virginia Tech, 1-0, while No. 2 seed Virginia defeated Maryland, 2-0.
