[AMERICANS ABROAD] Brad Friedel started in goal for Tottenham in its 2-0 win over his former club, Aston Villa, that moved Spurs into third place in the English Premier League. Friedel, the EPL's elder statesman at 40, extended his record-breaking run of consecutive appearances to 286.
Emmanuel Adebayor scored both goals for Tottenham in the first half. The win moved Spurs ahead of Newcastle in third place on goal difference.
Friedel, who did not have much to do against Villa, moved from Birmingham to London during the summer on a free transfer.
He's started every EPL game for Tottenham, while incumbent Heurelho Gomes has been starting in Europa League matches.
