[AMERICANS ABROAD] Jozy Altidore scored his fifth goal of the Dutch Eredivisie season, but it was the only bright moment in first-place AZ's 5-1 loss at Heerenveen.

AZ remained in first place, however, as second-place PSV fell at Feyenoord, 2-0.

AZ can add to its lead when it travels to Excelsior for a make-up game on Wednesday.

Brad Guzan finally his break and it came in the form of a hamstring injury to Aston Villa goalie Shay Given.

Guzan, who had made one appearance in is three-plus EPL seasons with Villa, came on the 38th minute of Villa's 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

Guzan, whose only previous EPL appearance came when Brad Friedel was red carded on the last day of the 2008-09 season, did not allow a goal against United, which suffered a blow of its own when Mexican star Javier Hernandez went off with a severe ankle injury.
