[TEXAS] Chris Petrucelli, who has been at Texas since 1999, is out as the Longhorns head coach and will be reassigned in the athletic department. The Longhorns earned their 10th NCAA tournament appearance in the past 11 seasons, but Petrucelli never duplicated the kind of success he had at Notre Dame, which he led to a national championship in 1995, dethroning nine-time champion North Carolina in the process.

Petrucelli was 154-79-25 in 13 seasons at UT and has an overall record of 329-101-35 in 22 years as a head coach.

After not making the NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns returned to the postseason in 2010 and 2011 but their records were only 11-6-4 and 11-9-1.

Texas has fallen behind Oklahoma State and Texas A&M as perennial title contenders in the Big 12. (Texas A&M will join the SEC in 2012.)
