[AWARDS] Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was named the 2011 FIFA Coach of the Year for men's soccer, while Norio Sasaki, who led Japan to the Women's World Cup title, won the award for women's soccer.

Guardiola, who coached Barcelona to the 2011 Spanish La Liga, UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup titles, among other trophies, was chosen ahead of Real Madrid's Jose Mourinho and Manchester United's Alex Ferguson.

Sasaki beat out France national team coach Bruno Bini and U.S. national team coach Pia Sundhage.

Of the four award winners voted on by national team coaches and captains and journalists, only FIFA Ballon d'or winner Lionel Messi (47.9%) had a higher percentage of votes than Sasaki (45.6%).
