French club Sochaux is set to sign Cameroon under-20 national team central defender Banana Yaya from African Champions League champion Esperance of Tunisia. That's right: his name is Banana Yaya.

The Lions hope there is -- well -- no slip-up as the young Lion finalizes his move with a medical exam later this week.

Sochaux, currently second from the bottom in Ligue 1, is hoping to avoid relegation. It has also signed Ivory Coast midfielder Thierry Doubai on loan from Italian club Udinese. Doubai's signing signaled the end of Sochaux's pursuit of American Maurice Edu. It twice had offers for Edu rejected by Scottish champion Rangers.
