[AMERICANS ABROAD] Clint Dempsey made history when he became the first American to score a hat trick in the EPL with three goals in Fulham's 5-2 comeback win over Newcastle on Saturday. It was the second three-goal game of the month for Dempsey, who had a hat trick in the FA Cup two weeks earlier.

Dempsey's first goal came when he chested the rebound of a shot by Bobby Zamora into an empty net, and the other two goals came when he broke behind the Newcastle defense.

Dempsey now has nine EPL goals and 15 goals overall this season.

Said Fulman manager Martin Jol, "Clint Dempsey is our top score. He is doing what he does best. Clint scores goals. You can only say he is a fantastic player."

Fulham is tied for 12th place after 22 games in the EPL.
