[AMERICANS ABROAD] Jonathan Bornstein played his first match for Mexican club Tigres since last spring, starting in its 1-0 loss at Union Espanola of Chile in their opening game in the 2012 Copa Libertadores.

Tigres, the 2011 Torneo Apertura champion, started only one player from the team that fell at Toluca, 2-1, on Sunday.

Competition on arguably the best backline in Mexico kept Bornstein out of the first team in the fall.
