[ID2 NATIONAL SELECTION] U.S. Club Soccer will send 18 players on its annual id2 National Selection International Tour. This year's trip will take the under-14
team Feb. 17-27 to Spain, where it will face teams from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as well as a combined match against Espanyol and Cornella in the opener.
PDA leads all teams with
three players on the team. St. Louis Scott Gallagher is the only other of the 15 clubs represented with more than one player.
Two of the players, Logan
Panchot and Kevin Silva, will return to the id2 National Selection squad.
The highlight will be a tour of the famous L'Estadi Camp Nou
-- Barcelona's home -- on Monday before heading to its training complex for a game Tuesday night.
“We are very excited to have such a great collection of talented young
players from all over the country assembled for the 2012 id2 National Selection International Tour,” said Gerry McKeown, id2 Boys program director.
“They will have a tremendous opportunity to not only compete against the youth academies from some of the world’s best clubs, but also to take in Spanish culture and experience life in a
different country.”
