[NORTH CAROLINA] Transfer Andy Craven, the 2010 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year at College of Charleston who scored six goals in eight matches to start 2011 before suffering a season-ending injury, and eight freshmen form the recruiting group that Coach Carlos Somoano has brought in to help North Carolina in its NCAA Division I title defense.

The recruits include former U.S. under-17 national team defender Joey Amon (South Carolina United Battery) and Danny Garcia, who is the top scorer for the FC Dallas U-17/18 academy team.

Otter signings: Cole Brooks and Jonathan Campbell (both NC Fusion), Alex Olofson and Nick Williams (both CASL Chelsea), Gambian Nyambi Jabang (Cobb FC) and Nico Rittmeyer, Amon's teammate at South Carolina United Battery.

"We filled a number of needs with this class," said Somoano, "and they will represent the University of North Carolina in a great way."
