Chris McGowan, chief operating officer of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, has replaced Tom Payne as the Los Angeles Galaxy's president of business operation. Michael Altieri is also coming over from the Kings, where he's been vice president of communications and content with the Kings, and will replace Patrick Donnelly as the director of communications.

Payne, brother of D.C. United president Kevin Payne, had been with the Galaxy since 2003, while Donnelly first joined the MLS club in 1999. Both moved up in the ranks to take on executive roles.

Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns both the Galaxy and Kings, characterized the moves as a "reorganization."

Youth Academy Director Chris Klein, who retired as a player in 2010, will work alongside McGowan in the front office.
