[PORTLAND TIMBERS TOURNAMENT] Supplemental draft pick Ryan Kawulok, a local player out of the University of Portland and the Timbers' PDL U-23 team, celebrated his signing with the Portland Timbers with a late equalizer to give the Timbers a 1-1 tie with Chivas USA before a crowd of 15,195 fans at the Portland Timbers Tournament Thursday night at JELD-WEN Field.

Chivas had taken a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by a long-shot signing of its own, Mexican-American Cesar Romero who had recently been playing futbol rapido, a Mexican version of indoor soccer.

In the tournament's other game, the San Jose Earthquakes played to a 0-0 tie with AIK Stockholm.
