During the Los Angeles Galaxy's Concacaf Champions League game at Toronto, David Beckham had a beer can thrown at him and had to cope streamers tossed from the Toronto fans while taking corner kicks.
"Tonight was a great atmosphere,' Beckham said of the crowd of 47,658 in Toronto. "The majority were here to enjoy the spectacle. It’s a shame some people spoiled it. It’s disappointing kids see it.”
With Toronto desperately holding onto a 2-1 lead in the 88th minute, Beckham walked to a corner to set up the Galaxy’s final scoring chance when a beer can was tossed on the field.
Beckham lifted the can to show the crowd and the referee. Then took the corner kick that led to Landon Donovan's goal that earned the Galaxy a 2-2 tie in the quarterfinal first leg.
