Werder Bremen lost Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic for at least six weeks after he tore a ligament in his right knee playing with his dog on Thursday.

“Marko has informed us of this incident,” said Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf. “This is frustrating as we are now with one option less [in attack] for the coming weeks.”

Arnautovic's foot got stuck in the grass while he was playing with his dog.

Werder is in sixth place in the Bundesliga and in the hunt for a Europa League berth next season.
