A police dog bit Caxias striker Vanderlei in the leg during a Brazilian league game on Saturday.

As Vanderlei and several other teammates complained to the officiating crew near the sidelines, the German Shepherd dug his teeth into the back of Vanderlei's leg and got a piece of his shorts.

The hound was on the leash of a policeman trying to help the mobbed referees.

The game was delayed for 10 minutes and Vanderlei eventually was able to return. His team lost 1-0 to Novo Hamburgo.
