Thierry Henry and Kenny Cooper started together up front for the New York Red Bulls for the first time since Cooper arrived from Portland in the offseason. Each
scored two goals in a 4-1 home-opening win over the Colorado Rapids and Henry set up one of Cooper's goals.
“Today they really just clicked,” Red Bulls goalkeeper Ryan
Meara said. “They’re both great, great players. When they can feed of each other, we’re a very dangerous team.”
Cooper said, "He [Henry put the ball right
in my path. He has everything. He creates goals, scores goals, and on that particular goal he put the ball right in my path. I could not have asked for a better pass. ...
“I hope that
with each game, if I’m out there with him, he’ll feel comfortable with me. I’m hungry to get better every day. He’s someone I can learn from along with a lot of other players
here.”
