Barcelona has lodged an official complaint with UEFA in regards to the playing surface at the San Siro stadium for the first leg of its Champions League quarterfinal with AC Milan. Players
continually slipped on the surface and pieces of turf came loose throughout the match that ended 0-0.
UEFA delegate Mikalai Varabyov included the complaint in his report.
AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani acknowledged the field needed resurfacing and said they were in talks with Inter Milan, the club they share the stadium with, to find a
solution
“In the end we adapt to everything … but it’s clear that this was a problem for the spectacle,” said Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola in his
post-game news conference.
