Dallas Texans tied for first, FC Dallas beats Tigres

[DALLAS CUP] The Dallas Texans find themselves tied for first place in their Super Group at Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXIII after tying Mexico's U-20 national team, 0-0, and FC Dallas remained in contention with a 1-0 win over defending champion Tigres.

The Dallas Texans opened with a 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt thanks to goals by Brandon Aubrey, Geoffrey Hill and Caleb Richardson, then tied Mexico's U-20s.

FC Dallas recovered from a 2-0 loss to Manchester United to beat Tigres, 1-0, on pro Jonathan Top's goal. Top and goalie Richard Sanchez are the two pros on the FC Dallas academy.

Santa Clara Sporting, a late entry, is the third U.S. team in the Super Group. The California team opened play on Monday with a 5-2 loss to Man. United.

Its game against Tigres on Tuesday was pushed back to Thursday because of rains.

Kashiwa Reysol of Japan leads the third group after two games.
