McBean and Villarreal on Spain trip

[LOS ANGELES GALAXY] Pros Jack McBean and Jose Villarreal are among the players the Los Angeles Galaxy is taking on its U-18 academy team to the Real Sociedad XXVII Youth Invitational Tournament in Spain.

The Galaxy qualified for the tournament by winning the Generation adidas Cup for MLS academy teams last August.

“I’m really excited to get over there and play,” said McBean, the youngest player in franchise history, told lagalaxy.com. “It’s going to be a really fun competition.”

“I’m just hoping to get a good experience out of it,” said Villarreal, whose younger brother, Jaime, also is a member of the team heading overseas. “I was pretty overwhelmed when I was told I was going to go on the trip.”

The Galaxy will play Spain's Valencia, Osasuna and host Real Sociedad, opening group play on Friday.

Galaxy roster:
GOALKEEPERS (2): Juan Cervantes, Grayson Cornwell.
DEFENDERS (6): Kebe Mamadu, Oscar Sorto, Matt Tilley, Javan Torre, Jeffrey Payeras, Nathan Smith.
MIDFIELDERS (5): Grady Howe, Bryan Guzman, Drew Murphy, Willie Raygoza, Jaime Villarreal.
FORWARDS (5): Justin Dhilon, Jack McBean, Mario Rodriguez, Jose Villarreal, Sebastian Velasquez.
