[DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY] The Montreal Impact and Portland Timbers have been selected to join the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for the 2012-13 season, bringing
to 80 the number of clubs with U-15/16 and U/17-18 teams in the program.
Only the Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC among MLS teams won't have have teams in the U.S. Soccer league. Both
clubs have academy programs.
The Timbers' development program includes its highly successful PDL U-23s and goes down to six regional training centers throughout Oregon and Southwest
Washington for U-12 to U-14 players.
The Impact has a residential, fully funded academy program.
